Earth Friendly Practices
- Buy in bulk or large packages
- Buy products in recycled/recyclable packaging or with little packaging
- Use phosphate free dish and laundry soap.
- Install low flow shower heads and reducers for faucets
Materials to Recycle or Reuse In Klamath County
Batteries - (small; from toys, radios, flashlights) - Take to Radio Shack at 3049 So. 6th
Books & magazines - Take to: Klamath County Library, Goodwill, Salvation Army or trade with friends
Electronics - take to Tingley Lane transfer station
Fiber - (any worn out cloth items, rags, etc so long as they are clean) - Take to Goodwill at 3401 Washburn Way - they recycle more consumer fiber than anyone in the U.S.
Kitchen scraps - compost them; Yard and woody materials - compost or take to the County landfill. They are sent to Biowaste in White City and burned to make electricity.
Motor Oil - Take to Industrial Oil on 1291 Laverne Avenue (near Tingley Lane transfer station)
Packing Materials - Pak Mail will take foam peanuts, bubble pack and sheet packing foam - 3255 Washburn Way (near Cancun restaurant)
Plastic Bags - Return to your grocery store; Bring your own cloth bags and eliminate the use of plastic!
